FAQ

I really hate FAQ, all that comes to mind to me on this, is what a load of bollocks. Perfect example of  this is  the FAQ on empire.

Q. In games involving armies of 3000+ points each, may the Empire field more than one War Altar?

A. No. Only one War Altar exists. The Empire army book includes several references stating that there is only one War Altar, including “..the Grand Theogonist may despatch ONE of his Arch Lectors to do battle from the back of the War Altar.”

Now I own the Empire book and at no point does it state that there is only one War Altar. In fact it speaks of two other War Altars in the realm of the Empire. So who does there home work here? (Direwolf). But if they want, I would be more than happy to field Volkmars War Altar for just 100 points (Am guessing he leaves his items to help his arch lectors, after all he wants them to win right?). I just can’t understand why games workshop would use a none Empire group to write up the FAQ on them, when quite clearly they have never really read the book, otherwise they would know what it said, rather then writing a FAQ on a army they fight against but dont play themselves. Thanks direwolf FAQ council

Am I really the only person that feels like this on the FAQ, because there are plenty of other examples that can be found there.

  1. What are the other two war altars?

Also, don’t have the book, can you take volkmar on a war altar AND an arch lector on a war altar?

  2. Obviously not as the FAQ states there is only one war alter, obviously two people can’t have it at once ;)

  3. Well at least one of you can adimt that your a dumb arse and dont have the book.
While the other one talks out of ignarence.. ;)

  4. you go on about taking Volkmars War Altar without reading what is actually written. The war alter is exactly the same, its just the items he is carrying that differ and draw their power from the alter.

  5. lol, you guys crack me up, what we have to remember here is that direwolve clearly aren’t gods and arent infallible. But to answer your question i agree they’re twats and should do their fucking homework before arbitrarily diciding how this game should and shouldnt work. Guess we have the lazy bastards at games workshop to thank for making the rules so clear in the first place.

  6. Just to quote the book, under Volkmar’s equipment, “Sigmarite war altar (see page 53)” which is the standard war altar, so how is it any different?

  7. it causes terror when he charges and if you have the jade griphon it gives you regen, again read the book.

  8. Its probably worth noting that the Direwolf council only pass on their questions (and possibly their interpretation) and that its GW who decide how to rule it.

Direwolf council then accept GW decision and regurgitate that into their own FAQ to maintain consistency.

Therefore its GW failing. Twice. Once for fucking up in the first place, twice for failing to rectify their faults in a FAQ.

I suppose there’s a third, failing to provide regular FAQs and ignoring some of the fundamental questions over stupid ones (i.e. palaquin in a unit, how it affects ranks etc).

  9. After looking into it, the interpretation is based on the wording rather than any thing else. It appears the war altar of sigmar may not be the same as the war altar, which means they may not be the same thing. Or that maybe they are.

    Who cares?

If you want to take two war altars so be it, one could be the ‘offical’ lectors war altar, stored in the altdorf temple of sigmars garage and the other some shit a priest knocked up at the local blacksmiths. In game terms they are the same thing.

  10. This isn’t about the waralter, i just hate the faqing FAQ. There i said it, come get me gamesworkshop!

  11. Agreed, I hate all their FAQs too. Half the stuff isn’t needed, they miss out everything that is needed and everything else you thing ‘WTF, who decided that?’

  12. As regards the Jade Griffon, “The Jade Griffon hangs around the Grand Theogonist neck” not sure where that says anything about a different war altar, just that it draws its power from it. And as far as causing Terror when he charges, again that comes from the horn he is carrying, so back at you, READ THE BOOK!!!
