Special Characters

December 15, 2008 · 4 Comments

Ive been thinking a lot about our group when it comes to gaming with special characters, and some of them are just insane, when used with the right combos to back them up, and it leaves me feeling quite pissed off. It simple means you have to gear your army up as hard as you can just to deal with them, or the other option may be to try feed them cheap and cheerful units at them and send them in strange directions to try and keep them of your lines.  Either way it’s very frustrating to play it like that.

What happened to the good old days when the general represented you in the battle, you equipped him how you would of liked to fight it. By custom building your own heroes you can show your own tactics by how you select your gear, and how well you use it. I been finding a lot of our larger battles becoming very tiresome, everyone wants to win so badly, this then leads to rule arguments and so on, and it leaves you feeling that there is no fun to be had, that there use to be. But on late Sunday me and Gav, Des tried writing out a 2000 point list with no special characters and to take more things we would not usually take. We fought with the list and the fun was much better for it, no argument’s, no rule bending. Its more enjoyable to take pansy army’s, rather then my army is so fucking hard its going to rape you. If you been having similar problems then give it a go.

FAQ

December 11, 2008 · 12 Comments

I really hate FAQ, all that comes to mind to me on this, is what a load of bollocks. Perfect example of  this is  the FAQ on empire.

Q. In games involving armies of 3000+ points each, may the Empire field more than one War Altar?

A. No. Only one War Altar exists. The Empire army book includes several references stating that there is only one War Altar, including “..the Grand Theogonist may despatch ONE of his Arch Lectors to do battle from the back of the War Altar.”

Now I own the Empire book and at no point does it state that there is only one War Altar. In fact it speaks of two other War Altars in the realm of the Empire. So who does there home work here? (Direwolf). But if they want, I would be more than happy to field Volkmars War Altar for just 100 points (Am guessing he leaves his items to help his arch lectors, after all he wants them to win right?). I just can’t understand why games workshop would use a none Empire group to write up the FAQ on them, when quite clearly they have never really read the book, otherwise they would know what it said, rather then writing a FAQ on a army they fight against but dont play themselves. Thanks direwolf FAQ council

Am I really the only person that feels like this on the FAQ, because there are plenty of other examples that can be found there.

Hello world!

December 8, 2008 · 14 Comments

Well on Friday i have a big battle to fight, me and Des v Gav and Scott.(warriors v Dark elf’s) 2500 Pt’s per player and you both count as one army.  Des has assigned me as overall genral. Everyone that knows me, will know how much i love my ranked up units in my army. So i don’t want to disappoint them now. What better way then assigning myself the centre to hold. i have slightly taken alittle more then my fair share of the points to make sure i can hold the centre and all what the dark elf’s units can throw at me, this now means that poor Dez has a few more points less to use. Dez’s mission is very simple, he is my flanker and to stop any pesky flyer’s coming behind my lines. His list keeps changing like the wind at the moment as he needs to decide if they are going shooting heavy or magic heavy, or worst, they might have that irritating anti magic talisman.

I will show our list and there’s when we have fought the battle and let you all know what happened.
